The Southern Platte Fire Protection District employs more than 50 firefighters and support personnel.

The district is a combination department - that means both full-time career firefighters and volunteer firefighters work side-by-side. For the protection of our citizens, a three-person crew is available at Station 1, a four-person duty crew is available at Station 3, and a three-person crew is available at Station 4 24 hours a day.

All firefighters must graduate from Southern Platte's fire academy before they work for us. In addition, all Emergency Medical Technicians must be certified and current in the state of Missouri before they can practice.

Because of the scope of our work, firefighters spend much of their time training, staying proficient with our equipment. That way, when the fire bell rings, everyone plays a coordinated role.

In addition to line firefighters, the district employs an administrative secretary at Station 4 (our administrative station), four state-certified fire investigators, three division chiefs, and a fire chief.

The district is governed by a board of three elected commissioners.
