The Southern Platte Fire Protection District is governed by a three-person board of elected fire commissioners. The commissioners, Nelson Hopper, Michael Newburger, and Gary Judd, oversee the operation of the district, which is administered on a day-to-day basis by their appointee, the fire chief, Richard Carrizzo.
