COMMISSIONERS OF SOUTHERN PLATTE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT February 17, 2005 The meeting of the Board of Directors of Southern Platte Fire Protection District was held Thursday, February 17, 2005 at Station #4, 8795 NW N Highway, Kansas City, Missouri. Nelson Hopper acting as Chairman called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. Present at the meeting were Directors Nelson Hopper and Gary Judd. Also present were Fire Chief Richard Carrizzo and Union Representative Jonathan Messick. Minutes of the January 12, 2005 meetings that had been previously e-mailed to the Directors were accepted upon motion made, seconded and passed unanimously. The Treasurer’s report, prepared by Adrienne Renton, for the month of January was passed out at the meeting. Chief Carrizzo advised that the cash assets and investments were not included in the January Report, but would be included for the February Report. Chief Carrizzo also reviewed the operating investments that were made and “laddered out” for the remaining of the year. Total projected average interest to be earned should be 2.647% from now until December. The following Old Business was brought before the meeting:
2. Apparatus Update:
0001 had new brakes installed. Chief Carrizzo also advised that all pumpers receive a semi-annual DOT service and inspection. This includes having the brakes checked during these services. 9902 was placed out for bid. The highest bid was $7,896.01. Chief Carrizzo recommended accepting the bid and selling the vehicle. Motion was made and seconded to accept the bid of $7,896.01 and authorize Chief Carrizzo to complete the sale of unit 9902. Motion passed unanimously.
b. Chief Callahan traveled to NFA for the first class of EFO, a four-year program. c. Chief Officers were trained on the Regional WebEOC program. d. The Fire Marshal had been conducting numerous inspections since his promotion. Thus far the new position is providing benefits to the citizens and District. e. Station #3 still had a minor leak in the roof. f. Station #1 also has a leak in the roof that is scheduled for repair. g. New doors were added in the hallway of Station #4. They are to be stained later this month. h. SPTC hosted an Office of Domestic Preparedness for the region this past week. There is another one scheduled for later this year. The courses are for all disciplines, not just the fire service. Motion was made to accept the Chief’s Report, seconded and passed unanimously. 2. Union Report:
Partnership Lunches and Volunteer Division Dinner have been scheduled for the beginning of March. There being no further business to come before the meeting, it was adjourned at 9:50 a.m. Respectively submitted,
