COMMISSIONERS OF SOUTHERN PLATTE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT September 29, 2004 The regular meeting of the Board of Directors of Southern Platte Fire Protection District was held Wednesday, October 20, 2004, at Station #4, 8795 NW N Highway, Kansas City, Missouri. Nelson Hopper acting as Chairman called the meeting to order at 9:05 a.m. Present at the meeting were Directors Gary Judd, Michael Newburger and Nelson Hopper. Also present were Fire Chief Richard Carrizzo, Captain Dale Minton, and Battalion Chiefs Jason Ekis, Kevin Joles and Brian Hershberger. Minutes of the September 29, 2004 meeting that had been previously e-mailed to the Directors were accepted upon motion made, seconded and passed unanimously. The Treasurer’s report, prepared by Adrienne Renton, for the month of September was passed out at the meeting. Chief Carrizzo reviewed the new investments as outlined in the Balance Sheet. After review, the Treasurer’s report as presented was accepted upon motion made, seconded and passed unanimously. The following Old Business was brought before the meeting:
2. Apparatus Update: Chief Carrizzo reported the following: 8102: We are working to sell /or trade this unit which should take place in the next few weeks. 0401: Still determining the signage and logos, but is in service. 9901: The bucket had leveling problems and has been repaired. 0001 and 0002: The bids have come in and we are waiting for Pierce to authorize the painting of the units.
Motion was made and seconded to accept the second reading of Ordinance #5: Bill #4. Motion passed unanimously. Third reading of Ordinance #5: Bill #4 was read by Title only by President Hopper. Motion was made and seconded to accept the third reading of Ordinance #5: Bill #4 formalizing the Ordinance. Motion passed unanimously. 2. Chief’s Reports: Chief Carrizzo reported

ii. John Redford – time taken during the interview process c. Chiefs Fiser and Callahan are enrolled in Northland’s Chamber of Commerce’s Northland Leadership for the next 12 months. d. The State of Missouri Ethics Commission paperwork had been completed for those individuals who need to complete financial disclosures. e. A possible premium surcharge for MoFAD was reviewed. f. Division Chief Callahan delivered NFA Leadership for Company Success for the officer development program. g. The CMC rope course was held in September at our facility enabling us to send three students at no cost. h. Division Chief Fiser met with some concerned citizens from Farley, regarding Station #2 possibly being shut down. After the discussion it was determined that misinformation may have been delivered by the Board of Trustees’ of Farley. Southern Platte will be holding a “town hall meeting” or attending a future Trustee meeting. i. Station #4 bay doors were painted by internal personnel due to the fading from the sun. j. Chief Carrizzo presented the 2003 Life Safety Achievement Award for no fire deaths. A press release will be forthcoming. k. Chief Carrizzo presented the contract from New Directions for EAP services during 2005. Chief Carrizzo recommended the continuation of the contract for the same cost as 2004 contract. Motion was made and seconded to authorize Chief Carrizzo to execute the contract with New Directions for EAP services during 2005 for the same cost as 2004 contract. Motion passed unanimously.
