COMMISSIONERS OF SOUTHERN PLATTE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT April 21, 2004 The regular meeting of the Board of Directors of Southern Platte Fire Protection District was held Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at Station Four, 8795 NW N Highway, Kansas City, Mo. Nelson Hopper acting as Chairman called the meeting to order at 10:09 a.m. Present at the meeting were Director Gary Judd, Director Michael Newburger and Director Nelson Hopper. Also present was Fire Chief Richard Carrizzo. Minutes of the February 25, 2004 meeting that had been previously e-mailed to the Directors were accepted upon motion made, seconded and passed unanimously. The Treasurer’s report, prepared by Adrienne Renton, for the months of January, February, and March were passed out at the meeting. After review, the Treasurer’s reports as presented were accepted upon motion made, seconded and passed unanimously. The following Old Business was brought before the meeting:
A letter from Missouri Division of Labor was reviewed. They had closed the case regarding the Prevailing Wages for the construction of the training tower. 2. April Election: Chief Carrizzo advised the election had passed. All chiefs had met and outlined a hiring and promotion plan. Hiring will begin in mid-Summer with a starting date of January 3, 2005. If an additional process is needed it will start in early Fall with a hiring date at the end of March 2005. 3. Apparatus Update: Chief Carrizzo reported that the Cascade truck would be arriving in the next week and would be ready for service in late May. 0001 (P24) was going into Detroit Diesel for service to correct an oil leak. The Haz Mat trailer would be traveling to Blue River College for an equipment display. On March 26th it was displayed with all of Northland’s Haz Mat units in Liberty. Everything was in service. 4. Training Tower: Nothing to report. 5. Strategic Plan – Nothing to report.
Chief Carrizzo reported: a. A pre-construction meeting was held with the contractor for Parkville Community Center. b. A minor sub-division was approved at Farley-Hampton and Hillsboro Rd. c. Advanced IMS Certificates were earned by: by FF Alvarado, D.C. Callahan, FF Cull, Capt. Denney, FF Dinneen, Capt. Ekis, Capt Hershberger, FF Johnson, Capt Joles, FF Laslo, FF, Mandacina, FF McCammon, FF Messick, Capt. Minton, FF Mitchell, FF Nell, FF Peoples, FF Pool, FF Richardson, FF White and FF Whitney. d. Union Report: Chief Carrizzo advised that the partnership committee had been working on the MOU. At 11:05 a recess from the meeting was taken. At approximately 11:55 a.m. the meeting reconvened at 6700 National Drive. In attendance were President Hopper and Director Judd. Guests included Chief Carrizzo, Division Chief Bill Fiser, Division Chief John Callahan, Lori Judd and Adrienne Renton. The Board and Chiefs thanked Adrienne for all her work and provided lunch for Administrative Assistant’s Week.
