COMMISSIONERS OF SOUTHERN PLATTE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT October 10, 2002 The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Directors of Southern Platte Fire Protection District was held Thursday, October 10, 2002 at Station Four, 8795 NW N Highway, Kansas City, Mo. Nelson Hopper acted as Chairman of the meeting and called it to order at 9:15 a.m. Present at the meeting were Directors Hopper, Newburger, and Judd. Also present was Chief Richard Carrizzo, Union President Dale Minton, and Jay Weinstien, VFIS. Minutes of the August 27, 2002, meeting that had been previously e-mailed to the Directors were accepted upon motion made, seconded, and passed. The August Treasurer's report was presented and discussed. The following Old Business was brought before the meeting: 1. Legal Issues: Chief Carrizzo advised that the signed resignation letter from Kelly Wingert had arrived and was accepted by the Chief and Board of Directors. 2. Apparatus update: All apparatus was reported in service by Chief Carrizzo. The new River Rescue boat had arrived but was not in service. The District was still waiting on a few minor items still to be added by the dealer. 3. Department Values/Strategic Plan: Chief Carrizzo advised that the Regional Cooperation section was being corrected and then a draft would be forwarded to the Management Team. The Officers met this past weekend with Dr. Gerling and worked on communication activities. 4. Training Tower: The tower has been completed and a "punch list" was being worked on by the contractor. The concrete work is scheduled for completion within the next week. An open house is being planned for the entire station and training facility in November. 2. Labor/Management Report: Chief Carrizzo and President Minton advised that they would be taking the "Change Profile" again as reported in the Action Plan. A 1-day Labor/Management Seminar is scheduled for January 15th and it is hoped the Board can attend. 3. Insurance Report: Jay Weinstien with VFIS reviewed the insurance policy and answered questions from the Board. The next Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for November 27, 2002.
