The regular meeting of the Board of Directors of Southern Platte Fire Protection District was held Wednesday, August 14, 2002, at Station Four, 8795 NW N Highway, Kansas City, Mo.

Nelson Hopper acted as Chairman of the meeting and called it to order at 9 a.m. Present at the meeting were Directors Hopper, Judd, and Newburger. Also present were Chief Richard Carrizzo, and Jerry Hagg and Debbie Hopkins of Platte Valley Bank.

Mr. Hagg and Ms. Hopkins presented the Fire District with a framed 9-1-1 picture of the raising of the flag. A tour of the station was given to the guests.

Minutes of the July 24, 2002, meeting, which had been previously e-mailed to the Directors, were accepted upon motion made, seconded, and passed.

The following New Business was brought to the meeting:

Chief's Report:

• Chief Carrizzo reported on the meeting with Water District #1.
  
• Monthly statistics were e-mailed to the Board for July.
  
• Chief Carrizzo discussed the long MAST response times with the Board.
  
• The hiring statistics were reviewed for the recent process.
  
• Ferrel Gas completed a photo shoot for their annual report.
  
• Chief Carrizzo explained that Southern Platte did not receive any of the FEMA Grant money.
  
• An EMT class will be held at Station Four starting August 27. EPI will be instructing the course. Six volunteers are in the class at no cost to the District.
  
• Union Report: Nothing to report.
  
• Budget Review: Chief Carrizzo reviewed and discussed the 2003 Budget and Income with the Board.
