MINUTES OF REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING
COMMISSIONERS OF SOUTHERN PLATTE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT
September 27, 2001

The monthly meeting of the Commissioners of Southern Platte Fire Protection District was held Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, at Station 3, 10811 NW 45 Highway, Parkville. Mo.

The meeting was called to order by Commissioner Gary Judd at 7:01 p.m. Present were Commissioners Newburger and Judd. Also present were Chief Richard Carrizzo and Firefighter Kelly Wingert.

Minutes of the August 30, 2001, meeting that had been previously provided to the commissioners were accepted upon motion made, seconded, and passed.

The Treasurer's Report was presented and handed out to the commissioners and was accepted upon motion made, seconded, and passed.

The following old business was presented to the meeting:

1. Legal issue: Chief Carrizzo advised that a possible hearing in front of the Missouri State Mediation Board is scheduled for Oct. 15, 2001, at 10 a.m. at Station.

2. Station 1: The final payment was made and all work has been completed. This item will be removed from the agenda.

3. Apparatus: Chief Carrizzo advised all units were running and that all pumpers would have their pumps tested. This process will be during October and November.

4. Station 4: A punch list was made this past week and we should take possession in the next few weeks. The front pad will be finished this week with the road being finished over the next month, pending weather.

5. Department values: nothing to report.

The following New Business was presented at the meeting:

1. Chief's Report: Chief Carrizzo reported on the following:

  • Three thank you cards were read.
  • Jay Weinstein will be handling our VFIS insurance starting next month. This was due to Wally Williamson's promotion to Director with VFIS.
  • A letter from Northland Regional Ambulance District was discussed.
  • A Missouri State Hazardous Waste Report was submitted to the State. This was from the clean up of the property at Station 4. The State believed that we were still producing hazardous waste.
  • Two letters of resignations were accepted, effective Sept. 28, 2001. Both individuals have taken jobs with Kansas City Fire Department. We wish them both well in their fire service careers.
  • Three promotions to Fire Lieutenant were made, effective Sept. 29, 2001.

    Motion was made to accept the Chief Carrizzo's report. Motion was seconded and passed.

    2. Ordinances - Commissioner Judd discussed the Fire Works Ordinance. No action on the ordinance was taken. Chief Carrizzo will contact Platte County Communications Center regarding our response to the type of requests.

    Director Newburger wished to thank everyone who attended the Park Hill High School Memorial service this past Tuesday.
