Emergency Medical Services
Southern Platte Fire Protection District provides Basic Life Support (BLS), first response medical care to the citizens of the District. Medical responses to the community comprise approximately 60% of the District’s annual total alarm volume. These include rescue, motor vehicle accidents with or without extrication, pedestrian struck, ice or water rescue, and medical emergency.
All officers and firefighters must be certified as Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) by the State of Missouri upon their hiring and maintain their license through their career. Southern Platte operates all of its vehicles (engines, aerials, utility vehicles and tankers) with the equipment needed in which to function as a medical first response unit. Southern Platte Fire has approximately 90% members (100% of paid members) trained and certified at the EMT level and 2 members at the Medical Intensive Care Technician (MICT - Paramedic) level.

The Fire District is completely encompassed by the South Platte Ambulance District. The Ambulance District has contracted ambulance service with Metropolitan Ambulance Service Trust. MAST Unit 309 is centrally located within the Fire District at Station #3 on a routine basis, 24-hours a day. They respond with Southern Platte Fire on most incidents within the Fire District. There are times, in the Northern area of the District in which West Platte Ambulance or an Air Helicopter is requested to respond to assist, providing the best possible care for the patient(s).
