SECTION 7. DELETIONS, ADDITIONS, MODIFICATIONS AND AMENDMENTS.

(L) Section 1109.4 is hereby added to the Uniform Fire Code, 1994 Edition, to read as follows:

Section 1109.4 Smoking in Elevators Prohibited.

It shall be unlawful for any person to smoke in or on any elevator or to carry in or upon any elevator any lighted cigar, cigarette, pipe, or burning tobacco or to carry in or upon any elevator any open flame or burning ember.

Every elevator shall be posted with a printed sign or notice with the wording:

SMOKING OR CARRYING ANY LIGHTED CIGAR, CIGARETTE, PIPE OR BURNING TOBACCO, OR ANY SOURCE OF OPEN FLAME OR ANY BURNING EMBER UPON ANY ELEVATOR IS PROHIBITED BY ORDINANCE.
